Night Survival Guide — 100 Days At Sea

100 Days At Sea splits every run into day exploration and night defense. Stranded Devs sends invading forces after dark — your raft, weapons, and class picks determine whether you reach dawn or respawn on Starter Island. The July 2026 Alien Invasion event intensifies this loop. This guide covers raft defenses, class roles, consumables, and co-op callouts for standard nights and event windows. Pair with raft building, co op strategy, and alien invasion event.

How the Day/Night Loop Works

Day: harpoon resources, sail to islands, craft at your raft bench, and stock food. Night: enemies attack your raft — survive until dawn to advance the day counter toward Day 100.

Skipping raft upgrades to rush islands backfires — underdefended bases wipe on the first hard invasion wave around Days 10–20.

Coins passively accrue from surviving nights — Merchant class (+20% sell price) stacks with night income when you vendor loot the next morning.

Alien Invasion (July 2026) layers themed threats onto this loop — see alien invasion event for event-specific prep.

Essential Raft Defenses

Bonfire (5 Wood + 3 Stone + 1 Flint): warmth and cooking — mandatory before first overnight sail from crafting.

Container Shelter (20 Scrap Metal + 10 Wood): reduces rain and cold exposure during docked nights and Ice approach — raft building.

Raft Expansion (15 Wood + 8 Rope + 5 Nails): more structure slots for defenses and crafting stations.

Weapon bench priority: Flintlock Pistol before Desert Island; upgrade to Scoped Rifle tier before Kraken Zone on weapons.

Camper class (+10% building speed) accelerates shelter and expansion placement for players who night-fail from slow construction.

Best Classes for Night Defense

Sharpshooter (+25% ranged, +10% crit): primary night DPS — clears spawn points from raft perimeter.

Soldier (+15% defense): front-line tank when enemies board the raft deck.

Medic (+15% health regen): sustain through multi-wave nights without burning entire Medkit stacks.

Night (+20% night vision): visibility advantage during fog or low-light invasion phases — strong on Shipwreck and Bermuda routes.

Pirate (+15% all damage): flexible DPS with Cutlass + Pistol starter for mixed-range nights.

Crewmate (+10% team XP): co-op groups grinding event nights for class unlock progress.

Consumables and Pre-Night Checklist

Medkits (5 Cloth + 3 Herbs + 1 Alcohol): heal 50% HP — stock 5+ before Days 15–30, 10+ before Volcano and Ice.

Cooked meals beat raw fish — hunger drain during long fights wastes DPS windows. Fishing Rod + Bonfire minimum; Cooking Pot for efficiency.

Ammo check: Flintlock and Scoped Rifle users verify Gunpowder reserves after Desert and Shipwreck farms.

Repair materials: Wood and Scrap Metal for mid-fight raft patch jobs when enemies damage structures.

Pre-night routine: eat, repair raft, refill ammo, assign co-op positions, confirm Bonfire fuel.

Co-op Night Roles

Four-player split: Sharpshooter north spawn, Cowboy/Pirate south spawn, Soldier mid-boarding defense, Medic rear sustain.

Call out wave numbers and low HP — Crewmate XP aura rewards coordinated clears.

Do not leave the raft during active invasion unless fetching critical ammo from adjacent storage — split teams fail event nights.

Common Night Failures and Fixes

Failure: no ranged weapon before Day 10. Fix: craft Flintlock Pistol from Shipwreck or Desert Iron/Gunpowder.

Failure: hunger mid-fight. Fix: cook before dusk; Seagull companion (Pirate Chest) automates food every 120s.

Failure: cold plus invasion on Ice route. Fix: warm meals from ice region update before sailing north.

Failure: four DPS, zero sustain. Fix: at least one Medic or Survivor in co-op rosters.

Frequently Asked Questions

What happens if I die at night?

You respawn and lose run progress depending on server rules — treat every night as a gear check.

Does Container Shelter stop all damage?

No — it reduces environmental exposure. You still need weapons and Medkits for invaders.

Best weapon for night defense early game?

Flintlock Pistol after Desert Island materials. Ranged beats melee-only for spawn-point control.

Does Alien Invasion change night mechanics?

Themed escalation on the same loop — see guides/alien-invasion-event for July 2026 notes.

Can I skip nights by sleeping?

No skip mechanic — defend until dawn. Preparation on guides/raft-building is the only shortcut.
